Rihanna Will Not Star in Bodyguard Remake

Rihanna is passing up an opportunity to reprise the role that Whitney Houston made famous in 1992. Instead, she says, she wants to play a 'character.'

The S&M singer is taking a road that many musicians often don't take - the road to challenging movie roles. So often you see singers portraying other singers in movies, which likely isn't stretch at all to correctly portray in a believable manner. RiRi isn't interested in taking the easy singer roles, instead she wants a role with a challenge to it.
"Absolutely not," Rihanna says. "I want to separate the two. I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time, because you can never look at them as anybody else."

The 23-year-old Barbados singer has already got a movie slated for a May 2012 release called Battleship, which is based off of the popular children's board game in the works. The movie, which also stars True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard will serve as the singer's acting debut.

"I want to play a character," said Rihanna. "My whole life is playing Rihanna, [so] being a singer [in a film] won't be a stretch for me. I like challenges, and being an actor is playing a role, being able to step into somebody else's shoes, that's the excitement."

Now, it'll remain to be seen how good she is at stepping into a character's shoes and breathing life into a new character. If she's as good at it as she makes it sound, then movie-goers could be in for a real treat next year. Until then, it seems her fans will have to settle for watching her videos if they want to see her in film format.

Rihanna spills the beans on her sex life in shock interview

POP siren Rihanna has confessed that she is “a bit masochistic” in the bedroom and likes to be tied up, spanked and whipped.

The 23-year-old beauty, who had a hit single S&M, revealed: “I love feeling like I’m somebody’s girl.

“I love to be tied up and spanked. I like to be whipped. And it’s funny that I care, but I prefer to be spontaneous.

“Using whips and chains is too planned – you have to stop and look for the whip. I prefer them to use their hands.”

The star, who has been linked to actor Colin Farrell, told Rolling Stone magazine that her sexual preferences could be linked to her difficult upbringing.

“I think I’m a bit masochistic, and I did not realise until recently.

“I think that is common in people who witnessed abuse in their childhood,” said Rihanna, who saw her dad smoking crack when she was just nine years old.

Rihanna accused of acting like a diva over charity shoot

RIHANNA has been accused of acting like a diva after she shot a charity public service announcement for UNICEF, but then caused costly re-editing delays after complaining that she looked heavier than usual in the online video clip.

The svelte songstress participated in UNICEF's Celebrity Tap campaign, which asks stars to donate bottles of their own tap water to raise money and awareness for impoverished children in need of clean drinking water globally.

Rihanna stars in a stylish black-and-white PSA on celebritytap.org, in which she slinks in a clinging black dress down a hallway and into an ultra-modern kitchen where she fills a clear glass with clean tap water and sexily drinks it.

A breathless voice-over says, "Water so hot, it can only come from Rihanna's faucet."
But sources familiar with the singer said that when she saw the original proposed video spot, she demanded it be edited because she thought she "looked heavy", the New York Post reported.

The pop star's self-involved demands caused "extensive delays", sources said, holding up the project's launch for more than a week at a cost of more than $14,000.

"We're surprised to hear that," a UNICEF representative said.

"She was not unhappy. We were very thankful. Rihanna was very collaborative and very participatory. What was shot was what exists now."

The representative added that tweaks are "part of the normal creative process" and "no reshoots were done".

She said promotional work was done on a pro bono basis and any extra costs did not come out of the charity's coffers.

The Celebrity Tap campaign also includes celebrities Taylor Swift, Robin Williams, Adrian Grenier, Dwight Howard and Selena Gomez.

Since 2007, it has raised nearly $2.3 million for water and sanitation programs for children in Belize, the Central African Republic, the Ivory Coast, Guatemala, Haiti, Iraq, Togo and Vietnam, according to the organisation.

A representative for Rihanna declined to comment.

Rihanna has a wardrobe malfunction at charity dinner

Us girls know that a strategically placed strip of sticky tape can be more than enough to spare us our blushes.

Something that Rihanna should have taken on board last night for her gaping neckline.

Because her cleavage just about stayed in place inside the lacy neckline as she leaned over to greet some famous friends at a charity gala in New York

As she leaned in to say hello to David Bowie and his wife Iman, she almost gave a little too much away.

Rihanna, 23, arrived at the 5th DKMS Linked Against Leukemia gala at the Cipriani Wall Street venue.

She looked stunning in a long lack gown, but as she posed for photos, she almost gave the game away beneath the dress's plunging neckline.

And thankfully, as she stooped to chat to the famous singer and his model wife, her cleavage stayed in place as she bend over to shake Bowie's hand.

Rihanna was a guest of honour at the event where she was honoured for her dedication and fundraising work in the fight against the disease.

She said: 'Anyone can be affected by leukemia. It is the number one disease children in the U.S. die of and we can change that.

2011 Rihana Style

RIHANNA doesn’t need a man to be happy.

Asked by In Touch Weekly magazine if she’s enjoying the single life, the singer responded, “Who doesn’t enjoy being single!”

Rihanna then revealed what keeps her calm and centered in her chaotic world.

“Good friends. Good people around you,” she said. “That’s very important.”

Rihanna recently revealed she likes nothing more than to chill out at home and catch up on her favorite shows.

“When I have a day off, I usually just laze around for as long as possible. I watch TV in bed, blast music out really loudly, or maybe go shopping,” she said.

“But recently when I’ve had time off, I haven’t been shopping at all. I’ve just stayed at home watching TV.
“I really miss being away from home. What I miss most is my family, the food, some of the music and definitely the weather — sunshine makes me happy!

“Barbados has a different culture and I miss being part of it, having it as my everyday life. Being a singer is what I’ve always dreamed of doing, so I’ll never regret that, but I definitely miss home — a lot.”
